Harry Alexander Catchpole 1903-1938

Harry was born in Thorpe Hamlet, Norfolk, England into a successful military family and never quite fitted into this roll professionally. His father was Benjamin Henry Catchpole and his mother was Sarah Jane Terry. Harry finally left England for Australia and we believe he married Annie MacIntyre McKenzie at Mildura on 24 Dec 1927. We do not know a great deal more about Harry but it is possible it was he who died in Swan, Western Australia, Australia, but then again it may not have been him. CAN YOU HELP FIND HIM?

Mercy Errey 1802-1851?

Mercy Errey was Born in Heathfield, Sussex, England, She was one of seven children of William Errey and Elizabeth Gurnett. On 25 June 1823 she married Thomas Gilbert. They had 8 children. In 1851 Mercy, Thomas and some of the family set sail to the USA. Family records indicate Mercy died at sea on the trip out and was buried off the coast of Newfoundland. Her husband Thomas Gilbert died about four months later age 59, in New York, USA. There seems little doubt that this happened but I have been unable to find any documented records to prove these events. Perhaps there is none. We have a great many details of the descendants of the family on this site and I still wish to contact many of them. CAN YOU HELP

Thomas Leach 1844-????

Thomas was born in Lambeth, Surrey, England and his father was also Thomas Leach and his mother was Louisa Smith. Thomas was one of the younger members of a large family of 12 children. On 25th Aug 1857 Thomas age 13 and five of his older sisters and one younger brother Joseph age 11 migrated to Victoria, Australia. This family was reported to be sent to Australia by their father who had remarried and thought it best that most of his children be sent to Australia to start a new life there. It is said that His father Thomas Leach had remarried and his wife was much younger and it did not sit well with the children. Most of this family is "found" but Thomas has not been found "by me". It is reported that he and his younger brother Joseph move to New Zealand and lost touch with their sisters. CAN YOU HELP?

Owan Robartson 1833-1881

Owen Robartson (possibly Robert Owan Robartson and often Owen) we believe was born in Wales, perhaps Portmadoc, North Wales but are not completely sure of this. No records can be found of any Robartson families in West Wales by the name of Robartson at that time. Owen came to Australia in 1855 we are told, the port of arrival is unknown. We do know Owen married Louisa Martha Leach in 1858 Presbyterian Church in the district of Hampden, Victoria. On the marriage certificate he states he was a mariner. They went on to have 13 children and many of the descendants are accounted for and on this site being scattered across Australia with a great many in Western Australia. The mystery is to find the ancestors of Owan/Owen and this rather unique family name and perhaps more descendants in Australia. CAN YOU HELP.

Robert & Charles ????????

This was a very old very small photo that was given to me in about 1978 by Norman Maskell. Norman Maskell did not know who these two boys except that they were part of the Maskell Family. I would suggest the picture was taken before 1890. Can you help identify them.

Henry Edward Taylor

Henry Edward Taylor 17 June 1857- ??? married Married Annie Errey 1848-1913 in 1880. Henry is missing in the 1881 census and May Annie is living as a boarder in the Chatham Hill Public House, (a Pub), Married, listed as a Tailoress, having been married less than six months. Henry is nowhere to be found. In 1891 he is found with the family that now consists of 2 girls, Elsie Tryphena Taylor 3 Olive Eliza Taylor 2 This is a little strange as the had been married for about 7 years before their first child was born then another the following year. In 1901 the family is the same but all 10 years older. Henry Edward Taylor is not to be found on the 1911 census and no death record can be found. On the 1911 census we find Mary Ann Taylor and her Daughter Olive Richie ne Taylor living together where Mary Ann claims to have had 5 children, 3 who are deceased. I can find no details of the three other children, births, christenings or deaths. Can you help unravel this riddle? Neilerrey@gmail.com

Unknown Family Member from Camperdown, Victoria, Australia. Front of picture.

Can you help us identify this young woman from Camperdown, Victoria, Australia. I have a mystery and would like to see if anyone can help. Some time back at an Errey reunion in Camperdown, Peter Maskell brought some photos that I photographed. I am now trying to definitely identify one of the pictures. There are a number of names on the rear of the photo as folks have tried to identify who the lady was. Let me add my observations. It cannot be Mrs (Mary Rose) Thomas Peter Errey 1813-1900 so the photo would have had to be taken in about 1830. Cannot be her.A The other name is Edith Toogood 1881-1931 so she is a possible option date wise, but not at all closely related to the Maskell family. Any other ideas that anyone has about this photo that can help identify Her would be most welcome.
